Video Summary
The webinar introduced ACEC’s 2025 Technology Benchmarking Study and explained that a new 2026 study will launch in June. Joe shared key findings from 220 firm respondents: overall technology readiness was low, with a median score of 26%. Larger firms consistently scored higher than smaller firms. The study covered three areas: technology infrastructure, culture of technology and innovation, and technology advancements in client delivery. It also highlighted AI adoption trends, showing limited use of generative AI across firms.

Two panelists, Chris from Pannoni Engineering and Chiranjeev from CTL Engineering, discussed how they used the benchmarking results. Both said the study helped guide budget conversations, identify gaps in AI governance, and spark internal discussion about data governance, change management, and employee training. They emphasized that smaller firms often struggle with limited budgets, third-party dependencies, and lack of guidance.

Both firms are actively using AI, but with different approaches: Pannoni relies on third-party tools like Microsoft Copilot, while CTL builds many systems in-house and tightly controls data access. The panelists recommended that firms participate honestly in the survey, use it as a self-audit, and benchmark against peers to improve strategy and investment decisions.
